Weightloss is a marathon they say and I have to agree. I started out 7 years ago when I weighed 82 kilograms, I signed up for "bodystyling" (that's the brand name but I have no idea what else to call it) it involved diet advise and twice a week 30 minutes of pilates like exercises in a heated capsule. and it worked a charm, the accountability of keeping a food journal and biweekly weigh-ins kept me on track and I lost 20 kg's in a little over 2 years.
That was 5 years ago at my lowest adult weight, I managed staying at maintenance quite well at first but I can't really pinpoint where I started slipping off. I saw the biggest jumps on the scale often after a vacation (because I didn't weigh myself for 2 weeks ofcourse) and I tought it would level out eventually. I kept going to the bodystyling but with new management I didn't connect as well and logging my food by just guestimating portions on a piece of paper didn't do it for me anymore. I think my portion sizes became bigger, I allowed myself fast food and desserts more often and in March of this year I snapped out of it. I was at 75 kilograms and I knew I could not allow myself to go back to the shape I was in before.
Myfitnesspal was installed, food scale was dusted off and back in service and daily weigh-ins on my bathrooms scale became a morning ritual. I tracked everything in Mfp and on the weightloss excel sheet to get clear numbers and averages. I also picked up running again, it was hard to believe that when I was at my lowest weight I ran a couple of 10k mudruns, I want to be able to do that again. So 131 days on track again and this morning the scale shows 64.8 kg, I lost 10 kilograms!!! This is the goal I had set for myself to make sure I look my best in my vacation photos.
I do want to go all the way back down to 62 kg maybe even a bit lower to 59kg since the TDEE calculator gives that as a healthy weight for a 33 year old female of 1m68, but that has to wait. In a few days I'm leaving on a 3 week holiday across Japan.
I'll miss my food-scale and I'll be a test to balance my self-control and still not feel like I'm missing out on any culinary experiences (foodie right here). But I believe I can do this, there will be lots of walking during this trip so my exercise is some-what covered, I can make the right choices and maybe share snacks or sweets with my husband to limit the amount. I have to prepare myself to accept I might/will gain some weight by the time I get back and I can dust myself off and start again the moment I get home.
TL;DR Came from 82kg to 62kg stumbled at maintenance and went back up to 75 kg. Got back to the wagon and back down to 65 kg. Accepted possible weightgain during upcoming holiday and determined to continue once I get back.
