Week One Done

I took a good hard look at myself on my birthday last week and thought if I look that way on my next birthday I'm gonna be really unhappy with myself.
Just context: I'm a semi-regular gym goer already but I drink beer and eat rubbish too much for it to count. I also have no idea what to do in the gym to actually burn fat and tone muscle. Last week I weighed in at 260lbs. It's the heaviest I've ever been and it's honestly making me depressed. The bad thing is that I comfort eat and find it really hard to break that habit.
Anyway, this week due to work shifts I didn't get to the gym at all but I was really cautious about what I was eating. Cut out all carbs, sugar and fizzy drinks and replaced with meat two veg lunches and a light dinner, and drank at least two litres of water each day.
Today I weighed in 10lbs lighter. I know it's not much and ideally I'd like to lose about 100lbs. But I'm now 1/10 of the way there.
I dont really have any friends and I don't want to tell my S/O until I've lost a bit more so I just wanted to let someone know.
