Not sure if the title summarizes my question very well at all so—I’m officially -20lbs today. I’m a D1 athlete working with my teams dietician that has been in a caloric deficit all semester (3 months now), as well as remaining sober from alcohol. My deficit is 1800 calories, which, as an athlete that practices twice a day, some of you may know that that is pretty low. I’ve noticed that on the weeks that I weigh myself where I’ve surpassed my calories, eating upwards of 3,000 on a Saturday and Sunday, I’ll lose twice as much weight than I would if I had stayed within my budget.
This past week has been pretty rough on my eating...in calories and in nutrition. But I’ve lost 3.4lbs just in the last 8 days?? Over the weekend I totally binge ate and lost 1.6lbs. How does that work??
Can somebody explain this to me? Am I doing my body a favor by feeding it a little extra here and there? I see my dietician tomorrow and I know she will be able to explain it to me but i just wanted to see what responses I can get here.
