Where to begin. Being 6'4 I guess I "wore the weight" fairly well. I was at about 215-220lbs my whole adult life. Because of the height my BMI was okay but that was really just an illusion. I had no muscle at all. I had no definition. When pandemic hit I decided to make changes.
Started calculating calories more, still not crazy with the app, but keeping track and staying within. Started walking 4 miles a day.. I made it 432 days in a row, I missed a handful of days so on some of those 432 I doubled the walk.
I also started doing some light weights, started with 5lbs, then bought 15lbs dumbells, then I bought 35lbs... small town gyms closed so had to make due. Threw in various calisthentics and stuff and tried to keep adding and being consistent.
Weight got down to 188lbs... but then it started going up, I'm guess/hoping it was muscle... as I had none and now I've got a little.
Now I'm at 6'4 196lbs.
I've been walking almost everyday still, and eating the same at slight deficit, and lifting and other stuff still...
I know I could really ramp things up but I'm also happy with the process and don't want to add anything that I can't sustain. This feels like a lifestyle change. I truly am happier. Clothes definitely fit better. Progress is consistent..
BUT PAINFULLY SLOW!!!!!
My progress pics show improvement but I'm still no where near the "post the finish line" victory reddit lap. I keep on trying to remind myself that it was 38 years of not giving a shit and only 1.5 years of trying. And I'm comfortable with keeping it up as it really is a habit now... but again ... HOLY CRAP THIS IS F'ING SLOW.
Really wishing I'd started in my teens, or twenties, or early thirties :D
Who else is in the skinny fat club? Its a weird body type... I'm tall but my frame is very slender and it feels like its going to take forever to chip away into non-jiggly town!
