Any advice appreciated!

Hi all,

For the last three and a half weeks, I’ve undertaken a weight loss endeavor. I’m 5’4” 133.2 pounds, female, 26 years. I’ve done diets like paleo, high protein low carb, Whole30, etc, and they’ve always worked really well for me (losing 5 pounds the first week, 15 pounds over several months) but I always gain back the weight because it’s unsustainable.

This time, I tried logging everything in MyFitnessPal. I cut my caloric intake to 1200 per day, as low as I felt comfortable going, and often came in under that. I also started running (Run 5K app, which I’m nearing the end of) three times a week, and going to kickboxing once a week. I know there’s more exercise I could be doing, but I wanted to first see what I could accomplish with mostly diet.

The scale hasn’t moved in two weeks. In fact, I gained 0.3 pounds from two Fridays ago to last Friday, and my number is the same this Friday as it was last Friday.

I used a different scale at the outset (before two Fridays ago), so I’m not sure how much stock to put in those numbers. Only reporting numbers from new scale.

I’m so disheartened. I loved this method because I never felt deprived. I could have some chocolate at the end of the day if it meant forgoing something else. I’ve been tracking mostly everything, but I haven’t been perfect every day (though I’ve been perfect most days and certainly come in under 1200 even if there are things I can’t track but know what’s in them.) I also know I’ve been eating a lot less than I was before because I’m much hungrier and my portions are so much smaller. My boyfriend did this method and the weight melted off of him.

What’s going on? What can I do differently? Is it possible my body only responds to cutting out grains?

I’m so inspired by this community and was hoping to have a small victory of my own to share by this point (3-5 pounds lost?). I can’t go back to Whole30 or Paleo, but this isn’t working either. I’ll do anything at this point, though, if I have to.

Thanks so much for taking the time.
