How the heck did I lose 10 lbs in a week??

I’m female (5’5”) and I just started counting calories last Wednesday, kept under 1250 every day. Started at 151, today (9 days later) I’m at 141.6. Every day my weight has changed pretty drastically between .8 and 1.5 lbs. I haven’t been exercising much either.

I’m using a brand new weight watchers scale from target. Is the scale just lying? I know all weight loss isn’t fat loss but I’m doubtful that the weight I lost could be all water, as I haven’t seen under 146 in over a year.

What’s the deal? Is this normal in the beginning? Is my scale crap? Is it all water? I don’t want to get too excited about the numbers on the scale because I don’t trust them.
