I just found r/loseit today and it looks like a great community and best of all you don't have to a membership or premium subscription to share and have access to each other.
I am posting today to introduce myself as I am starting/re-starting my journey to be healthier for what seems like the thousandth time. I have a problem with Binge Eating and definitely have a sweet tooth that gets me in to trouble. I have counted calories, tried fad diets, ate more vegetables, ate less fat, stopped weighing myself, weighed myself every day. So my goal on this new journey is to find something realistic and sustainable for myself. I would love to hear from you all about your stories, and what helped you stay motivated and get to where you are today.
I am 28 years old and 275 pounds. My goal weight is 195 but honestly just getting back down to 225 would feel amazing. In high school I played sports and was in shape weighing about 185 pounds, in College without organized sports and eating more jumped up to about 225 pounds by the time I graduated. However after college is were my weight gain really started to become a problem to me. I have had a desk job now for 6 years since graduating. I put on about 25 pounds the first two years and most recently another 25 pounds in the last 1.5 years since my wife has been pregnant and we had our child. My excuses have been she is eating for two so I have to as well. Now it's I don't have to time to cook or eat healthy since all hands are on deck taking care of our 9 month old. However I know everyone goes through things and those excuses are no reason to be unhealthy for the rest of my life.
I am excited to start this journey and just wanted to post to introduce myself and see if anyone has been in a situation similar to me so we can connect, and I can learn from people who have been through this or are further down the path then me. Like I mentioned before my biggest issues that I have been able to notice with myself is binge eating and eating too much fast food/sweets.
As I start today a few ways I plan to improve my situation and would love to hear any advice or tips that have been successfully implemented by all of you.
- Go to my office gym at least 2-3x/week during lunch
- Count calories
- Drink more water
- Get up from my desk to take a walk every hour or two
- Take my dog on walks on days I do not go to the gym
- Cut back on sweets and cut out fast food
Thank you all for reading my post and I look reading everyone's post and sharing this journey with all of you.
