Visiting family has made it harder for me to lose weight. Help?

I am a male college student who goes home about once a month to visit family. I’ve been making a concentrated effort to lose weight this summer while taking some classes and it was going really well (I lost 13 pounds!!) until I went home...

I hadn’t told my family about my fitness goals and I don’t really plan to; I prefer to work in silence and let the results speak for themselves. However, it’s hard to stay on track with your plan when you go home to a fridge and pantry full of junk. I don’t mean this in the sense of “I have no willpower” because I was doing just fine on my own. I mean this in the sense of “There are no foods here for me to eat that won’t set me back” if you get what I mean?

This leaves me conflicted. I visited home twice this summer and gained back 3 pounds (over the course of a few weeks, as my diet had then fell off the rails) because of it.

I don’t want to just ignore my family, but going home so often is just going to kill any chance I have at losing weight. I’ve lived my life saying “oh I’ll just start tomorrow” and I’m sick of it. I don’t want to wait for the “right time” anymore; I want to do this now.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
