6 month progress, 180 -> 155 lbs

I thought I'd make a post and share my progress from extremely skinny fat to slightly less skinny fat. This sub has been super helpful for learning about CICO and for motivation.

Backstory: I have been overweight since middle school. It took until the beginning of this year for me to finally commit to calorie tracking and working out. The turning point for me was when my last pair of comfy jeans started to fit tight. That night I bought a calorie tracking app hoping the money spent would force me to stay committed. Calorie tracking was the key I needed to realize how much I was overeating. I always ate "clean" but my portion sizes were way too large. In the beginning, I was eating <1400 cals/day but quickly upped it 1700 with more of a focus on protein. I started strength training 3-4 days a week, which is up to 5-6 now.

Numbers: 21M/ 5'9"

SW: (Jan 2022): 180 lbs. I was extremely skinny fat with no muscular development.

CW: (Jun 2022): 155 lbs

Diet: 1700 cals, min 100g protein/day, vegan (for ethical reasons)

I'm quite happy with my progress thus far, but to be honest, I was hoping it would be a bit more significant. I'm still quite skinny fat and have a lot of fat to lose in the abdomen and hips. Progress has been a bit slow recently since I haven't been as disciplined past few weeks. But I am getting back on track and being more consistent with tracking and strength training. I am hoping to lose a lot of the remaining fat before the end of summer, and then focus on building a bit of muscle.
