Hi All,
I've been using MyFitnessPal since I started, and really always enjoyed using that tool for tracking my food etc. I do have to admit for the last month I've not logged in and tracked my food but ok that's another story..
So I logged in today and was greeted with the new GDPR messaging which asks me to
a) Allow Under Armor to process my sensitive data. I understand this, but it also mentions it's going to "Share" my data and does not provide me the option to prevent it from sharing it. It says I can deny that at any time, but offers me no information on how to do so.
b)It wants to move my data to the US where there are is much less protection. The reason they mention here is laughable. They mention because this is a cloud application they need to move it out of region. This is absolute nonsense, since IT IS a cloud application. Data centers linked to the cloud can exist anywhere in the world and all the biggest cloud services AWS, Azure etc all have data centers all over the world and can store your data in geo.
So bottom line is that Under Amour wants access to your personal information with the ability to share it and making it difficult for you to restrict that. As soon as you agree to your data moving to the US you loose additional protections you currently have.
I'm pretty unhappy with how they are dealing with this since I am not even able to access my information until I agree to their terms...
So I've now sent them an email requesting my personal information.
